Luce Goods Gourmet Century
Done and done! 70+ miles to the ocean and back! All went really well until we hit the top of Coleman Valley and were hit sideways by the strongest winds I've ever ridden in! Chris was hoping for the awesome photo op but instead he got me stopping to a dead halt at the top of the descent refusing to go down in the wind that had just blown me across the road. He was a little perplexed and i held on to the idea of walking myself down for at least two more minutes before I climbed back on and started inching my way down...I swear one of these days these descents are gonna be my best friends. I mean how crazy is it that i love to climb and dread the downhill?! Anyway I conquered that beast and went on to have a lovely lunch of fish and chips, followed by our usual stop at wildflower bakery for a coffee and pastry fix but not before getting a flat right before freestone. A fish hook of all things was the culprit! The AIDS lifecycle riders were all at the bakery doing a practice run so it was particularly lively there. Met this hilarious man named Nick who introduced me to the word "tedwinds" which is his nickname for "headwinds". Ted is Nicks brother who apparently gives him a lot of resistance. Hence "tedwinds"...needless to say the "tedwinds" were a bitch that day and followed us all the way home.
Casa de Couillaud (the parentals) was not a disappointment upon our return with cocktail, home made sour kraut, pear cake and matching wine to boot!
Mission accomplished another perfect day in sonoma county...
