monkey cross- cleaning up...

This was actually supposed to go with my last post...blogger wouldn't load it up for some reason. Its a classic.

I sweat, you sweat, we all sweat...and get dirty.

I sweat...a lot and I get dirty....a lot. So I came up with these a while back. Nothing crazy, just a little towel to take along with me and spread on my yoga mat or throw into my car after those particularly dirty, wet bike rides.

I originally started making these out of vintage Deutsch terry curtains from the sixties that I found at a thrift store. I pretty much bought them out and was quite disgruntled to find out that there was a limited supply of such curtains. So i had to switch it up and use regular terry with a patch of cool vintage material. I don't know i almost like them better this way....the good folks at three dog yoga loved them and they are now a staple in there arsenal of cool stuff you can buy in there studio. If you don't know about three dog yoga you should. It is pretty much the best place to get your assana on. Run by Anna and David Guhin ( he also has his hand in the AMGEN Tour de California) Three Dog has everything a yoga studio should have. Great classes, great teachers, a clean enviroment and peaceful atmosphere. Check there website online for a description of their classes and a schedule. And then gooooooo, just go. You won't regret it...

This weekend marked the first of the Monkey Cross series here in Santa Rosa by those amazing folks at Bike Monkey. True to form it started pouring the night before and didn't stop until the day after. This made for some incredible racing in the mud...the photo opportunities were endless. Their next race is the SF Bike Expo, which I won't be boothing this year 'cause i'd rather roll around say hi to folks and have fun, check it out the course is always insane crazy!

To finish things off here are a couple of pictures of some brave souls who took on the mud and raced on saturday. They should of brought a towel...

Kenji San (creator of Bunjo) is the master at making bikes look just so...this is the progression of my beloved 650b luce rigs paint job. I finally settled on a paint job reminiscent of the datsun 510 of the late seventies. What can I say I am a sucker for that car and can't wait to have a mid life crisis so I can get one...

Violet and hot air balloons!

Well its october and we're still at it! The commute from Sebastopol to Santa Rosa doesn't feel like a huge feat anymore but just what we do to get to work and back. Pretty much the best part of my week. Violet is completely on board and loving it. Yay! the best part of riding in the spring and fall in Sonoma County is the fleets of hot air ballons peppering the sky in the early morning. you can barely see them here in the picture cause all i had was my iphone. You'll just have to trust me on that....

Got to hang out with some class act builders this weekend for the La Fonda and Levi's Gran Fondo. Friday evening was a raving success with jeremy sycip (sycip designs), sean walling (soulcraft), curtis inglis (inglis/retrotec cycles), steve rex (rex cycles), bruce gordon (bruce gordon cycles), todd ingermason (black cat cycles), rick hunter (hunter cycles), paul sadoff (rock lobster cycles), mauricio rebelledo (rebelledo cycles), john caletti (caletti cycles), and jay sycip (cielo) to name a few that showed up to make the evening a memorable experience, swrve was also on site with there amazing line of cycling worthy clothing and yours truly of course. Lagunitas provided free beer ( who doesn't love that)
and Fork Catering the delicious eats...

Whiskeydrunk cycles showed up with their whiskeydrome, a small scale velo drome fashioned for cruiser bikes, which pretty much wowed everyone along with all the crazy concoctions from the FBUC boys. A super fun night for sure!

The Gran Fondo was just as amazing the next day. A big shout out to Bike Monkey for all there hard work and Levi Leipheimer for putting on this sweet recreational cycling event which is quickly putting santa rosa on the map as a primo bike riding destination.

phew! i'm pretty much cratered but its off to the salt mines to make more stock for next weeks awesome event...Biketoberfest!
