Bike Monkey hats!
Friday, March 12, 2010
Spring is here and with it came the need to make some more light weight hats to coax the sun into staying! This above is one of my favorites so far. I found the fabric for the front at one of the various thrift stores that i stalk on a regular basis. Its actually a runner for a table from the 50's that i took apart. I just love the color combo's here and the little character on the donkey is super sweet! The other graphic on this fabric is a palm tree motif which i have on another hat. This fabric was just a great find all around. Kinda like that 60's hunting fabric i found this winter which was on a lot of my winter hats. Its that perfect score. To see the rest of my new hats you click here.
In other news...I participated in ladies night at Norcal Bike Sport and had a lovely time chatting up all the ladies and letting them try on all my stuff. I only got positive feedback which never seizes to amaze! The whole thing was pretty great with Marry Mc Conneloug, and Odessa Gunn in attendance, food, wine, beer, chocolate cupcakes, whip cream AND strawberries. There's picture of my table below (not the best one, sorry about that.) . I brought some of my new goods out to see how they went over and apparently all is well that way. Sweet...

Bike Monkey
Started designing hats for Bike Monkey this week and i'm really excited about. Here is one of the color schemes we are working on. We are also going to make a black, red and white version to match their pre existing jersey. If you don't know about Bike Monkey you can check them out here. Definitely one of the coolest things thats happened to Sonoma County bike wise, along with our amazing frame builders, Bike Monkey heads up most of the racing here and has a great magazine on bike culture, racing, and stuff. They are responsible for many great series such as SRCX, and the Lake Sonoma races. They've also worked extensively with our local celeb Levi Leipheimer to bring us the Gran Fondo and are doing it again this year. Nice work yo!
Of course no weekend would be complete without a ride out somewhere. These days i take it where i can and when i can and for as long as i can. This week i traded a night out on the town for a bike ride out west to our favorite spots. I have a tone of sewing to do so i had to make a bargain with myself . Luckily we still had to eat and our friends that we were supposed to hang out with were super cracked after hiking all day on mount Tam and were only up for dinner anyway. Perfect i got my cake and ate it too.
Special shout out today to my pops. Happy Birthday yo! Good job making it this far and remaining relatively sane. I can only hope to do so well! I'd post a picture of him but he doesn't like being on the interwebs...

gluten free lab rules!
I am a food lover at heart! I will eat just about anything and am not into fad diets and restrictions in the food world in general. That said it has sadly come to my attention that the overeating of bread and other wheat products including beer often leave me feeling rather uncomfortable and bloated. Who needs that!?! Here is the perfect solution when i need to binge on bready baky goods. The gluten free lab has all sorts of alternative recipes for those with sensitive stomachs. You can check them out here. They are also coming out with a cook book which is sure to be a keeper...of course that isn't to say that i'm willing to substitute or give up my freestone bakery fougasse not to mention a pint of good ale but man those donughts this morning were delicious....
